"TRU 688 REST" (878) 688-7378 Patrick@patricklerouge.com

What’s up, folks? Patrick Lerouge here from Evolve Restorative Therapy. You can find me at LivePainFreeProcess.com. I’m here to help you communicate with your body so you can properly and effectively get yourself out of pain physically, mentally and emotionally, folks.
This is round two of our top three reasons why people don’t heal for the long term. Our last one was all about getting us to take personal responsibility and what we have to do consistently and daily, so we bring it to our heart, saying “This is for me, not for anybody else – this is something that I need to do.”
We already got that one down. If you didn’t watch that one, go watch it. It’s last week or a week before, but it’s definitely on my page, so go check it out.
Number two on the whole list is our Mentality – what we think in our head, and the way that our culture is designed now. It’s all based off of “quick fixes” or we go to somebody to “fix” us, rather than thinking “it’s my responsibility to get myself better – I might need their help – but it’s not their job to ‘fix’ me” because you are not broken, folks. Not broken at all.

You have to start recognizing that ”That’s in my head.” I need someone to “fix” me? That’s not how the body works. The body naturally defends itself against anything coming in from the outside, so, anything that’s coming in, your body will naturally defend against – everything. That’s just point blank. We have to realize, even with therapists that are trying to help us, even with medicines, drugs – your body’s naturally going to have this defense mechanism because it’s not organic. It’s not within itself to say, “Oh, hey, everybody come in.” It’s a natural, highly defensive mechanism.
Having this “quick fix” mentality or “fix me” mentality doesn’t work for the long term. If you go into a PT saying “I’m in pain and it hurts,” I get it. It hurts, it sucks, you can’t function, you can’t do anything. But if you think, “I need to go to this person and he’s going to do this, this and this and I’m going to feel better and it’s gone,” you are fooling yourself. Fooling yourself!
What you have to realize is, “Yeah, I messed up and that’s okay, too. I messed up because this happened, this happened, this happened.” Either you fell or you stopped doing the things that got you where you were in the first place and you recycled a little bit, but you should be thinking “He’s going to help me get over this hurdle. He’s going to start breaking up scar tissue based off the body’s terms – not his terms, the body’s terms – to get the body to realign itself and get me over the hurdle that I’ve having the trouble doing it by myself.” Now, that is a completely different take from me going in there and just saying, “It hurts. Take care of it. Fix me.” No, it doesn’t work like that – the body just doesn’t do it.
And then, on top of that, we have to start getting ourselves to realize that it doesn’t end just like that. If we had back pain, it doesn’t go away because Patrick said, “Do this, do this, do this, do this, in this order.” It doesn’t go away like that. Once your body binds up something, it takes its time to realign itself. Once something rips, it takes time. Once something happens, folks, don’t think, “Quick fix! I’m gonna do this, this, this, this, and I’m gonna feel better.” No, it’s going to, “Do this, this, this, and this” and we’re going to get the first step. And then, what’s my next step? Then the next step. The faster you realize that you can go through those steps, the faster your body will start to roll and cycle in the proper way, rather than in a protection way. You’ll start to get your body to move in a healing way.
And then, after it cycles a few times, that’s when your pain will go away. It’s not like you’re going to do a few stretches and your knee pain’s going to go away. You’re going to do a few stretches, and your knee’s going to start to move because your knee is moving, you get blood flow there. Because the blood flows there, it’s going to start to get it to heal itself. Do you see it?
So, it’s not about, “Oh! Patrick said do this.” Or, “I saw this on YouTube. Oh! I thought if I roll, if I trigger point, if I go to a chiropractor…” No. It’s all about “why am I doing what I’m doing? And how is my body going to receive it?” And then it’s going to go do what it needs to do.
Do you see it? Like, it’s not about me. It’s not about this next best thing that’s out there. It’s all about you taking care of you, and you realizing what you’re saying and doing to your body. That’s what it all comes back down to.
That’s our Number Two Tip, folks. It’s not about “quick fixes,” and you do not need someone to “fix” you. You need someone to help you out, but no one’s going to fix you because you’re not broken.
That’s Number Two, folks.
Until next time, see you later! Bye.
