What’s up, folks? Patrick Lerouge here from Evolve Restorative Therapy. You can find me at LivePainFreeProcess.com. I’m here to help you communicate with your body so you can properly and effectively get yourself out of pain physically, mentally and emotionally, folks.
This is round two of our top three reasons why people don’t heal for the long term. Our last one was all about getting us to take personal responsibility and what we have to do consistently and daily, so we bring it to our heart, saying “This is for me, not for anybody else – this is something that I need to do.”
We already got that one down. If you didn’t watch that one, go watch it. It’s last week or a week before, but it’s definitely on my page, so go check it out.
Number two on the whole list is our Mentality – what we think in our head, and the way that our culture is designed now. It’s all based off of “quick fixes” or we go to somebody to “fix” us, rather than thinking “it’s my responsibility to get myself better – I might need their help – but it’s not their job to ‘fix’ me” because you are not broken, folks. Not broken at all.
You have to start recognizing that ”That’s in my head.” I need someone to “fix” me? That’s not how the body works. The body naturally defends itself against anything coming in from the outside, so, anything that’s coming in, your body will naturally defend against – everything. That’s just point blank. We have to realize, even with therapists that are trying to help us, even with medicines, drugs – your body’s naturally going to have this defense mechanism because it’s not organic. It’s not within itself to say, “Oh, hey, everybody come in.” It’s a natural, highly defensive mechanism.
Having this “quick fix” mentality or “fix me” mentality doesn’t work for the long term. If you go into a PT saying “I’m in pain and it hurts,” I get it. It hurts, it sucks, you can’t function, you can’t do anything. But if you think, “I need to go to this person and he’s going to do this, this and this and I’m going to feel better and it’s gone,” you are fooling yourself. Fooling yourself!
What you have to realize is, “Yeah, I messed up and that’s okay, too. I messed up because this happened, this happened, this happened.” Either you fell or you stopped doing the things that got you where you were in the first place and you recycled a little bit, but you should be thinking “He’s going to help me get over this hurdle. He’s going to start breaking up scar tissue based off the body’s terms – not his terms, the body’s terms – to get the body to realign itself and get me over the hurdle that I’ve having the trouble doing it by myself.” Now, that is a completely different take from me going in there and just saying, “It hurts. Take care of it. Fix me.” No, it doesn’t work like that – the body just doesn’t do it.
And then, on top of that, we have to start getting ourselves to realize that it doesn’t end just like that. If we had back pain, it doesn’t go away because Patrick said, “Do this, do this, do this, do this, in this order.” It doesn’t go away like that. Once your body binds up something, it takes its time to realign itself. Once something rips, it takes time. Once something happens, folks, don’t think, “Quick fix! I’m gonna do this, this, this, this, and I’m gonna feel better.” No, it’s going to, “Do this, this, this, and this” and we’re going to get the first step. And then, what’s my next step? Then the next step. The faster you realize that you can go through those steps, the faster your body will start to roll and cycle in the proper way, rather than in a protection way. You’ll start to get your body to move in a healing way.
And then, after it cycles a few times, that’s when your pain will go away. It’s not like you’re going to do a few stretches and your knee pain’s going to go away. You’re going to do a few stretches, and your knee’s going to start to move because your knee is moving, you get blood flow there. Because the blood flows there, it’s going to start to get it to heal itself. Do you see it?
So, it’s not about, “Oh! Patrick said do this.” Or, “I saw this on YouTube. Oh! I thought if I roll, if I trigger point, if I go to a chiropractor…” No. It’s all about “why am I doing what I’m doing? And how is my body going to receive it?” And then it’s going to go do what it needs to do.
Do you see it? Like, it’s not about me. It’s not about this next best thing that’s out there. It’s all about you taking care of you, and you realizing what you’re saying and doing to your body. That’s what it all comes back down to.
That’s our Number Two Tip, folks. It’s not about “quick fixes,” and you do not need someone to “fix” you. You need someone to help you out, but no one’s going to fix you because you’re not broken.
That’s Number Two, folks.
Until next time, see you later! Bye.

Control is an illusion. If you think you can control everything all the time – you cannot.
There is always a bigger system at play. It’s better to learn to go with the flow, to change and be fluid. Yes, always stay focused but don’t just think that there is only one outlet. You can think “I would like this to happen,” but it might come in a different way. My tip for the day is to learn to go with the flow.
How do I know that you already go with the flow, even though you could be the biggest control freak in the world? When I got to think about this deeper, I came to the realization that we all already DO go with the flow and we don’t even realize it.
If you are driving in your car, you think you are in complete control. You have the gas and the break and the steering wheel, you can do whatever you want. But what is the bigger system? The flow of traffic is. You are already going with the flow. You are just screaming bloody murder while going through it. It’s not going to help you at all. So just go with the flow. Sit and relax and realize “Ok, there is traffic coming, I have to stop.” People will cut you off all they want, you are only making yourself crazy.
Folks, we already go with the flow. Everyone preaches to go with the flow. But, do we realize that we are all already doing so? You just have to recognize it in every part of your life.
If you don’t like something in your life, change it.
If the road is blocked, you don’t have to settle for it. Take a detour, but don’t try to control it because you will drive yourself crazy.
Hopefully this helps, see you next time!

It’s ok to start all over, because your body is doing things all the time. It is ok to start over – and it is a necessity. The analogy I am going to use is a slot machine.
They way that your body works is very similar to a slot machine. You have three slots which are your feet, hips and your shoulders. As you know, those are our foundations. If they don’t work right, everything doesn’t work right. If something happens to one of those, everything gets shot and you have to start all over. This is a good thing.
You have to realize the more you start all over, the faster you will know the steps to take to get better when something does happen.
This where it gets tricky: if you pull that slot you will never get all things to line up perfectly. You have to learn how to tweak things and then pull it. You know certain things.
You know that your body works on a seven day cycle. Remember that, every seven days your body recycles and resets something. You have to recognize if you twist this or tweak that there you may be able to govern where it lands during the seven days.
You have to start learning how to do that on all three. Eventually you will find the combination that you need for all three areas. This way you can pull it, and every single time your body will reset in better ways. By learning about your body consistently, you can gear it towards those three foundations. Then your body will always reset in a better way.
You have to be ok with starting over. That is the only way that you will learn anything. It won’t take two or three times, it’s going to take four or five times. Your body is a variable, it changes dramatically. This is a lifelong thought process.
If you start looking at your body in a curious way, the pain that you are getting is not so bad. You can look at it and think “This doesn’t feel right here or there; let me see if I try something else.” Rather than thinking “I can’t get out.” Think of your symptoms and think of a solution. This is how you will progress.
Every time you get hurt, you will realize that you will come back even stronger than you were before. Your body couldn’t hurt itself based on all of the new things that you are doing, it couldn’t hold, so it just broke. As you are fixing things and mending things you are now able to do that. Now your body knows what it needs to do to repair itself.
Eventually you will get stronger and stronger with every injury you get. Depending on whether its structural injury, I’m not saying that if you break a bone you will be better. But if you just hurt yourself, and you do all the right things, you will be better later. So, start looking at yourself through that eye.
Remember, it is ok to get hurt because then you can fix it.

This week’s is all about being quiet. Being stealthy, being easy.
The reason this is important is because everyone is surrounded by a lot of noise.
Like, walking down the stairs or if you have kids that clunk and who make noise all over the place. We are doing that consistently throughout the day. What that does is put so much more impact on our bodies every time we step.
What I want you to focus on is being like a ninja.
When you walk don’t think about heel striking or being on the ball of your feet. Just think about being quiet. Heel striking versus ball of the foot both have their pros and cons. It doesn’t make them right or wrong, it’s just the impact that each of them have.
If you are heel striking – and doing it quietly – that means you are using motor control and muscle control rather than just clunking around while you walk. What you want to do is utilize them to make everything smooth. You want to float all over the place as you start to understand. You can have your body use the shock absorbers that you are using. You will actually move somewhat like you are floating.
As you do that, more angles of your ankle have to move and more tissues of your foot go onto the floor. You will be doing a lot more with the movements that you are making rather than just clunking down. The shock hits your knees, back, hips and neck. You would be surprised how the shock waves travel up all the way to your neck.
That is the important part: You have to learn how to absorb shock and disperse it. As it goes through your foot it disperses. If you are just slamming down it’s just going to hit the next solid object, which will run up the kinetic chain.
If you have bad knees, your knees will start to lock up because your body doesn’t want them to take that much shock. So the shock will shoot right through and go to the next area that can take that shock. This will be your hips or your lower back, because it’s always going to move somehow and have some play to it and some ability to absorb shock, because there are many massive muscles around it.
So, folks, this is what you need to do to stay moving pain free: You have to consistently do something, all the time and more consistently walk around. We are mobile creatures. If you do it quietly and become stealthy, play a game: How often can you sneak up on people? It’s a fun game for you but not for the other person.
That will help you learn how to start being lighter on your feet and help you move through with grace. Then you will stop getting all of these aches and pains as much because you aren’t always triggering your body to protect itself.
So, folks, hopefully this helps. Comment down below and tell me what you want to hear.
Tell me how you feel about being stealthy, about being a ninja.
If you haven’t done so yet take a look at my e-book. It will start breaking down the concept of Restorative Therapy.
Until next time, folks! Bye!

Today’s topic is all about sleep. So, how do you get to sleep? It’s a conversation a lot of people have; I just want to give you three easy tips. I want to go into a little more detail with it. Everyone knows not to have a T.V. inside your bedroom. The reason why is back when we were cavemen we rose and slept with the Sun. So when the Sun comes up, we go out and forage to get some food. Come back in, Sun goes down, and we go to sleep. So from those ancient times, your hormone levels have been spiking all through the day based on the Sun. I want you guys to start learning to base your lifestyle with the Sun. Your body will have an easier time progressing through if you can.
Tip Number 1: Try to get your room as dark as possible. Get the TV out. Another thing that most of us do is try to read at night. But, instead of reading a book we read from a Kindle or Nook. That light stimulates your brain. Your brain tries to offset that hormone and it starts to wake you up. That’s why when you watch TV or when you start to read you might think to yourself “WOW, why am I still awake, I just read this whole book?” – you might want to start unwinding that habit and stop doing that. Try to stay away from the Kindle and start working towards a hard cover book. This is old school but is something that is needed if you want to break that cycle of the light.
Tip Number 2: Keep your room slightly chilled to the point where you want to wear a sweater or a blanket. Not too cold where you don’t want to get out of your bed but cold enough where you want to put a blanket or a sweater on. This is the comforting feeling that we have as children. We bundle up and feel nice and snug. That’s tip number two. Staying warm is key. It’s primitive thinking: keep warm. But don’t make it too cold because then you don’t want to get out of your bed. You want to be able to feel snug.
Tip Number 3: Routines are huge. Most people don’t realize this. As a child we start our children with routines. Most people think that as we grow, we grow out of this. But, that’s wrong. What you have to start recognizing is that you already have a nighttime routine, you just have to rediscover it. Those nights where you have a great night sleep, it’s because you did something specifically in the right order that you used to do in the past, and you get into old habits. They are habits for a reason and they don’t go away.
You have to figure out what you do at night. What is your nighttime routine when you get into bed? Is it reading a book? Is it meditating? Is it just going through your day quietly inside yourself? Or is it having a glass of warm milk? Whatever your routine is, just figure it out. Once you do that and follow it consistently, your body will have this routine all the time. Sleeping is key. If you are not sleeping properly, you are not healing properly. If you aren’t healing properly, you’re never going to live and move pain free physically, mentally and emotionally.
Folks, if you need anything please give me a call. I would love to see if I can help your situation out. I would love to see if anything I can do for you will assist you and make your life easier. Either comment below or give me a call. Either or, I am willing to help. Until next time, Bye!
by Patrick LeRouge | Jan 9, 2014 | Living Pain-Free, video tips
Today what we are going to be talking about, is “Are you making this mistake?” That mistake is: attaching yourself to an outcome.
What that means is that you set a goal and all you do is harp on it and just think about it. You just keep thinking, “I have to do this and this and this.” The way the universe works, is exactly like volleyball. You get down and hit the volleyball. The volleyball has to go up, it’s going to hit its arc and then it’s going to come down and it’s going to get you. A lot of people think it’s going to be a straight line.
Manifestation is all about the arcing of it. Once it goes up where people start seeing it, and it stops being recognized, that’s where it has its most potential. Then it comes down and drops right in your lap. So many people set it up, forget it, and don’t even deal with it whatsoever. Then they move on to a different track, instead of tracking it, following it and then “POOF” it just lands right in your lap.
But we always harp on it and think “it’s going to be over here,” and you run and run and try to catch it. You figure out that it’s not working, and you say “you know what, it’s not happening.” Then you turn around and you move and its drops right behind you.
The opportunity is always there and the universe never allows for you to do something and then it doesn’t give it back. It always gives you opportunities and situations to gain whatever you want. What we do is harp on things and try to make them happen faster than they are. It is going to happen; we just try to make it happen faster.
Let’s give you a different type of example. People always want pain relief. Pain relief is something that we all just want and want. For example we might say “I want to be neck pain free, so I am going to be proactive” or, “I just got my neck pain, so I am going to do the work I need to do.” Once you start stretching and things like that, it’s never going to just go away. It’s going to take its time. This is the arcing method. So once you stretch, do the foam rolling and trigger point work, the meditation – you have to set it and forget it. You have to let it go. Do what you need to do and just live your life. Once that happens, everything changes.
Now your body is allowing things to go through. Its arcing up, then all of a sudden you just say to yourself “Wait a minute, I had a neck pain and it’s no longer there.” It fell in your lap. It falls right in your lap folks, if you just keep going in the trajectory that you need to go, and don’t worry about it. Just keep on doing the things that you need to do and don’t veer off.
The two common mistakes that we make are: 1) going too fast and trying to make things happen much faster than they have to, or 2) we veer off because we think we no longer are going to get the result that we wanted. But, it’s actually just getting ready to fall in our lap. If we just do the stretching and all the work that we need to do, and just follow the steps, it will fall in your lap.
We have talked about this before, we have talked about setting a straight goal. You have to set an end goal, and smaller action goals in between. It could be stretching or just going out to see someone, etc. We have also talked about life’s path and all of the things that just come up – our to-do list for example. These things get in the way. If it takes two minutes, just get rid of it right then and there. We just need to set it and forget it and just keep walking straight. All of a sudden we will say “How did this happen?” that’s just the way your body works.
Don’t make that mistake. Don’t try to make it go faster. Don’t try to veer off. Set it and forget it. Just keep on moving forward. Keep on moving forward! And that’s the tip for today.
Folks, if you guys need my help, please, give me a call. I’m always willing to talk to people. E-mail me. Comment on this video tip, so I can start helping more people. I am enjoying the feedback that I am getting. So, comment down below and hopefully I can help you soon.
Thank you!
