Mental Clarity
Today I want to talk to you about mental clarity and getting clear in your head so your body can start processing everything it needs to do. The New Year is coming and we all have these resolutions. We all have these different concepts that we want to do. “I want to be a better person in the future, so I am going to do this, this and this.” And the majority of them fall apart. So, I don’t focus on resolutions. It just something that I always does. I want to improve myself, but I don’t have to make a resolution just to do it. What we need to do is, just do it. So this week, is all about gaining mental clarity, so we can just do it. Nike said it, just do it. What I am going to do is give you one tip that is going to do everything. We all know about to-do lists, right? And are to-do lists are always about a mile long, because we are always doing stuff. The majority of the time it never gets cleaned up. It never gets finished. What I want you to understand is that there is always going to be a to-do list. There is always going to be stuff to do. We are always going to try to prioritize stuff and have different ways of doing all these different things. So the one tip for the rest of the week, for the rest of the year, is to try this. If it works for you, take it and run with it. The one tip, here it comes…. If it takes under two minutes, do it right then and there. It doesn’t not matter what else it going on, do it right then and there. Always finish the task that you are doing, but do that one thing because it is under two minutes, right then and there. By you doing that you are going to realize that you are going to knock off all of these things that always come up, and then you lose your train of thought about the things that you were working on. Now that takes longer and you probably forgot about the thing that you were supposed to do in the first place. So what I want you to do is, if it takes you two minutes to do, do it right then and there. Remember, finish your task first and then do it right then and there.
It’s all about taking the next step, not just adding things to your to-do list. If you just keep on adding stuff, you will never get through it. If you notice that you can get it done relatively fast, go through with it. This is another good example. I say this is a staple in my family if it takes me two minutes just do it right then and there. If my wife asks me to take out the trash or she just leaves the trash outside. I will take me two seconds to just grab the trash on the way out and put it in. Or, “can you grab me a pen and paper to write this list.” I may be typing on my computer and feel “ughhhhh.” I get up and get it done. You may have a moment, but you do what you have to do and it’s done! Now you can get back to your work. There’s all different ways of doing this, but as long as you get that two minute pattern down… poof, it’s done. It’s out of your head, now your brain doesn’t have to filter or process it, it just goes. So that’s my tip! If it takes two minutes to do, get it done right then and there. It will give you a lot of mental clarity and get rid of a lot of angst inside your body. What will happens is you will start living and moving pain free, physically mentally and emotionally.
