This week’s is all about being quiet. Being stealthy, being easy.
The reason this is important is because everyone is surrounded by a lot of noise.
Like, walking down the stairs or if you have kids that clunk and who make noise all over the place. We are doing that consistently throughout the day. What that does is put so much more impact on our bodies every time we step.
What I want you to focus on is being like a ninja.
When you walk don’t think about heel striking or being on the ball of your feet. Just think about being quiet. Heel striking versus ball of the foot both have their pros and cons. It doesn’t make them right or wrong, it’s just the impact that each of them have.
If you are heel striking – and doing it quietly – that means you are using motor control and muscle control rather than just clunking around while you walk. What you want to do is utilize them to make everything smooth. You want to float all over the place as you start to understand. You can have your body use the shock absorbers that you are using. You will actually move somewhat like you are floating.
As you do that, more angles of your ankle have to move and more tissues of your foot go onto the floor. You will be doing a lot more with the movements that you are making rather than just clunking down. The shock hits your knees, back, hips and neck. You would be surprised how the shock waves travel up all the way to your neck.
That is the important part: You have to learn how to absorb shock and disperse it. As it goes through your foot it disperses. If you are just slamming down it’s just going to hit the next solid object, which will run up the kinetic chain.
If you have bad knees, your knees will start to lock up because your body doesn’t want them to take that much shock. So the shock will shoot right through and go to the next area that can take that shock. This will be your hips or your lower back, because it’s always going to move somehow and have some play to it and some ability to absorb shock, because there are many massive muscles around it.
So, folks, this is what you need to do to stay moving pain free: You have to consistently do something, all the time and more consistently walk around. We are mobile creatures. If you do it quietly and become stealthy, play a game: How often can you sneak up on people? It’s a fun game for you but not for the other person.
That will help you learn how to start being lighter on your feet and help you move through with grace. Then you will stop getting all of these aches and pains as much because you aren’t always triggering your body to protect itself.
So, folks, hopefully this helps. Comment down below and tell me what you want to hear.
Tell me how you feel about being stealthy, about being a ninja.
If you haven’t done so yet take a look at my e-book. It will start breaking down the concept of Restorative Therapy.
Until next time, folks! Bye!
